Alleghany Avenue Elementary enjoys visit from German friends

Wolfgange Scaruppe, the German teacher who sent Lindenhurst's Alleghany Avenue Elementary School the signed "United we Stand" poster hanging in the front lobby of the school, came to visit with some of his colleges and students for an informative international exchange. They were greeted with a warm welcome by Alleghany Avenue students, staff, and parents. The school held a special assembly to welcome the German friends including the chorus singing, a presentation on the special Torgau school, interaction of questions between the German teenagers and Alleghany Avenue students, and refreshments. The exchange program was made possible through the German/American Partnership Program (GAPP) and the Foreign Ministry. Shown in the photo, Superintendent Neil Lederer, Deputy Superintendent Richard Nathan, Alleghany Avenue Principal Laura Newman, Alleghany fifth graders give a big welcome to our visiting friends from Germany.
