PAWS hosts Santa in Bay Shore
Santa Claus welcomed little children at Barnes & Noble in Bay Shore recently during a West Islip PAWS (Partners Assisting West Islip Students) holiday fundraiser. PAWS provided special shopping vouchers to those making holiday purchases, with a percentage of the sales going to the education foundation. Santa and several West Islip school principals read stories to the youngsters as parents perused the book shelves. Santa (aka West Islip Board of Education Trustee Wayne Smith, shown) listened to every child's wish list and also reminded them to take care of their books. Holiday music was provided by West Islip music students and gift wrapping was handled by student volunteers. The event was organized by PAWS member Maryann Mahony.
