Healthy Schools Network community forum at North Babylon High School

The Healthy Schools Network, a statewide organization, recently held a community forum at the North Babylon High School to discuss ways in which our schools can save energy and become more environmentally friendly and healthy.

The forum included a discussion of new construction and requirements from the State Education Department, and new laws for healthier and greener cleaning products in schools.

Immediately before the forum Assemblyman Bob Sweeney was given the Healthy Schools Hero Award for his "leadership in protecting children and promoting environmentally healthy and green schools.

The Healthy Schools Forum was hosted by the North Babylon School District and program sponsors included: Assembly many Bob Sweeney, the Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition, the Huntington Breast Cancer Action Coalition, Mount Sinai Children's Environmental Health Center, Citizen's Campaign for the Environment, CSEA, Neighborhood Network, New York League of Conservation Voters Education Fund, New York State United Teachers, New York State PTA, New York Superintendents of Building and Grounds Association and the Sierra Club.
