West Islip athletes sign Letters of Intent

Two lacrosse players from West Islip High School just signed Letters of Intent with institutions of high learning where they will be continuing their studies in the fall. Chris Messina will be going to Quinnipiac University to play with the Bobcats and John Rushton will be going to Wagner College to join the Seahawks. These young men have exceptional athletic potential, says Director of Athletics Wayne Shierant, right, standing with Boys Varsity Lacrosse Coach Bill Turri. According to Principal Ken Hartill, left, Rushton is a strong student in all subject areas. Messina's guidance counselor Paulina Zarokostas says his marks are good overall and that he has "boundless opportunities" in front of him.
