Bronx man charged in Copiague shooting death
A 25-year-old Copiague man was shot and killed in the back yard of his home Mon., Dec. 4. Two days later, they arrested a Bronx man, charging him in the homicide.

At approximately 10:10 p.m., Dec. 4, Suffolk County Police were called to 50 Copiague Ave., Copiague, after a caller reported hearing shots fired. When police arrived, they discovered Kareem James in his backyard, dead from a gunshot wound.

Arrested and charged with his murder was Champagne A. Bennett, 22 of Barnes Ave., Bronx, N.Y. He was charged with murder, second degree. The investigation is continuing and anyone with information is asked to callCrime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS or to contact the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392.
