KIC Juniors head into new year

Junior Commissioners enter the new year with the installation of officers who will lead them in community enhancement projects designed to help keep the Town of Islip cleaner and greener. Junior Commissioners are high school students nominated by a school or community advisor to join KIC as representatives of their school.

President Andrew Cohen of Bay Shore and Vice President Sidra Mahfooz of Central Islip are organizing the NIKE Reuse-A-Shoe Program as their first major project for KIC. The popular program runs through the month of January, when used sneakers are collected and sent to NIKE to be recycled into athletic surfaces. Andrew and Sidra are returning JCs who will share their knowledge and experience of KIC programs to help make this year a resounding success. For more information on the Reuse-A-Shoe program, call the KIC office at 224-2627.
