The Village of Lindenhurst, in conjunction with the Lindenhurst Historical Society, sponsored the Village holiday tree lighting, Sunday, Dec. 2. The festivities included the Lindenhurst Fire Department holiday parade, roller skating on South Wellwood Avenue around the Christmas tree, the Mayor's Beautification Society's annual Christmas wreath contest awards and the lighting of the Village Christmas tree. This year the Lindenhurst Historical Society designated the honor of lighting the tree to longtime Village residents and sisters Dorothea Papps and Elsie Warta.
