N. Babylon student tapped for All-East Regional team by national coaches

North Babylon's 2008 girls' varsity soccer season began with a huge question mark. Senior midfielder, Jenny Melton, was coming off a major knee surgery and hoping to return to form. Melton, a four-year starter and a two- year captain, came back strong and helped lead the team to their second consecutive league championship. Melton had seven goals and 10 assists on the season, she ranks among the all-time leaders in the program in assists. Melton received All- League honors as a sophomore in 2006, All-County, team MVP and fifth team All-State as a junior in 2007. As a senior Melton was selected All-County, was the fifth rank player in the county, team MVP, third team

All-State, Player of the Year in League IV, and finally was selected to the All-East Regional team by the National Soccer Coaches Association on America. Melton is the first player from North Babylon to receive this honor since 1990.
