Lindenhurst student heads to University of Maryland
Shown in the photo, left to right, back row, are US Volleyball Coach Rick Cole, Principal Daniel E. Giordano, Roberto Rosario, and Coaches Kellie Block and Michelle Cicero and in the front row are senior volleyball standout, Samantha Rosario. Lindenhurst High School volleyball standout Samantha Rosario signed a letter of intent to attend the University of Maryland in the fall. She has been the team's All-Star player for the past four years and is a true leader. "Sam is a true competitor on and off the court," said Coach Kellie Block. "She has contributed to the team since day one and helped lead the team to the state championship tournament."
Rosario began playing volleyball in the eighth grade as an outside hitter. Her team that year went undefeated. During that same year, she also started playing with the Long Island Volleyball Academy.
Rosario is excited to begin the next chapter of her life at the University of Maryland because of the new challenges and tough competition. "I know college will be something great and I hope to keep succeeding in volley- ball," said Rosario. "Nothing is better than volleyball," she added. Rosario is a typical teenager who enjoys going to the movies and hanging out with her teammates.
"I would like to thank all the coaches, especially Kellie Block and Rick Cole, and the entire Lindenhurst community for supporting our team and me," said Rosario.
