Nora Carmen, waitress for Country Kettle Restaurant
Lifetime Amityville resident Nora L. Carmen, who was a waitress in a Massapequa restaurant, died Nov. 11, 2008 at New Island Hospital in Bethpage. She was 69.
She was born Oct. 10, 1939 in Bay Shore to John and Emily (nee Horne) Hartman and spent her entire life in Amityville. She lived on Union Avenue for many years.
In addition to caring for her family and home she worked for about 30 years in the Country Kettle Restaurant in Massapequa.
Mrs. Carmen leaves behind her children: William T. and Linda Vetter; her granddaughter: Taylor Vetter; her siblings: Paul Hartman and Judith Schubert. She was predeceased by her husband William H. in Feb. 2005.
A graveside service was conducted by Father Randolph Jon Germinder, rector, St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Amityville, followed by interment in Amityville Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Powell Funeral Home, Amityville.
