Travelers' Club News
The Travelers' Club of Babylon held the fifth meeting of its 103rd year at the home of Margaret Daniel.
Mary Valentine presented a paper on the religion of Poland. Ninety-five percent of the population is Roman Catholic but there are also Protestants, Jews and Muslims. At present Poland is very open to all religions, but during the 19th and 20th centuries, religion was controlled to some extent by the state. Pope John Paul II did much to help the Polish church.
The second half of the program was given by the music and drama committee: Nancy Calabrez, Betsy Davison, Janet Loehr and Jessie Twohill. The following stories were shared: The Polish white eagle and the founding of Poland, the trumpeter of Cracow, how Poland received its crest and the sacred linden tree.
