Babylon High School started a new tradition for honoring excellence this fall in the area of science - forming a Science National Honor Society chapter. During the school's first-ever induction ceremony, Chapter #418 advisors Heather Hosek and Melissa Colapinto welcomed 65 eleventh and twelfth-grade students into this prestigious society.

"As founders of this chapter Ms. Colapinto and I are very excited to celebrate and honor the success of our students and welcome them to an elite scientific community," stated Ms. Hosek. "They have each displayed exemplary academic achievement in their high school science classes....(and) have proven themselves to be leaders of Babylon High School and the Babylon community."

In order to gain membership into this society, the students need to meet a series of national requirements. Students must be in the eleventh or twelfth grade, be enrolled in at least one honors or upperlevel science class in both the current and previous years, have an unweighted average of 90% or above in all science classes, and demonstrate behavior in line with the code of conduct guidelines at Babylon High School and reflect positively upon the community.
