Eagle Scout Robert Labriola 20, Life Scout Anthony Giaquianto 20 and Eagle Scout Steven Brumburg 18, were visiting upstate New York when they discovered a car had careened off the side of a steep mountain. Pinned inside the vehicle were two passengers.

The scouts sprang into action. Unable to obtain a cell phone signal, Labriola went down the mountain to call EMS for assistance. Meanwhile Brumberg and Giaquianto stayed with the passengers, calming them, applying first aid and treating the passengers for shock.

Once Labriola was able to make contact with emergency personnel, it took nearly an hour for them to reach the victims. Eventually the driver was airlifted to a hospital. His companion was transported via ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment.

These men, who are Assistant Scoutmasters for Troop 60, are credited with saving the lives of the passengers. They all credit their Boy Scout training for their ability to remain calm and assess the situation and provide first aid.
