Babylon senior Steven Logan receives Rensselaer Medal

In recognition of his superlative academic achievement, Babylon High School senior Steven Logan has been awarded the coveted Rensselaer Medal from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). For more than 90 years, this institute of higher learning has been awarding this honor to promising students who have distinguished themselves in mathematics and science. Each medalist who is accepted and elects to attend RPI will receive a scholarship of $60,000, payable in four yearly awards of $15,000. Currently, Steven is looking to major in chemical engineering and aspires to attend RPI in the Fall of 2009.

Steven has also been named an Advanced Placement Scholar by the College Board, received the Advanced Study Foreign Language Award for High School by the Babylon Teachers Association, and completed seven Advanced Placement/accelerated courses. Steven is a member of the National Honor Society, National Science Honor Society, National French Honor Society, National Society of High School Scholars, and was selected for the 2008 National Honors Convocation and the Congressional Leadership Conference sponsored by LEAD America. Additionally, he is active in the high school's athletic program and donates his time in community service endeavors.

In addition to receiving the medal, Steven was also commended for his achievements with a certificate of recognition from Governor David Paterson.
