2008-11-20 / Schools/Sports

The Deer Park School District welcomed new members of its educational community with a detailed program to ensure a smooth transition in their new positions.

The focus of the day was first day success and beyond, which centered on setting an initial tone in the classroom that will last throughout the school year. Teachers played the role of student and learned how to utilize procedure and policy in lesson design that maintain a clear objective and a measurable outcome. Assistant Superintendent

of Curriculum, Instruction and Professional Development, Eva Demyen and Abraham Lincoln, and Principal Lynda Adams assisted with group and individual tasks demonstrating the techniques of pre-accessing which new teachers should use when introducing a topic or idea to their students. Deer Park's strong sense of community commitment was highlighted in all activities enlightening teachers on the Town's diverse cultures and rich history.
