Seniors, Chelsea Lane and Susan Loeb were named Long Island Scholar Artist Honorable Mentions for 2008-2009. Both young ladies challenge themselves with rigorous honors and advanced placement courses, while being members of a dance company and chorus and orchestra, respectively. They will be honored at a ceremony in the spring.

Lane and Loeb have been members of the West Islip High School Dance Company (WIHSDC) since its inception and have played integral roles in the growth of the company. Both dancers are also accomplished choreographers, showcasing their work in various places, including the WIHSDC dance concerts.
