Babylon resident Andy Calimano, co-owner of Starfish Junction Productions, was honored as Volunteer of the Year by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Madelyn Fugazy, associate executive director of the Greater New York Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation presented the award to Calimano on Oct. 21, in a ceremony held at the Fox Hollow Country Club in Woodbury.

"Volunteers are the backbone of our success," said Karen Blank, Director of Special Events for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. "Andy Calimano is one of our amazing volunteers. He continuously gives of his time to help the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation raise much-needed funds to find a cure. He shows true heart and dedication to helping others. We are so thankful to Andy for all that he does and are proud to call him our Volunteer of the Year," added Ms. Blank.

Calimano is co-owner of Starfish Junction; a Long Island based award-winning event production company. "We always partner with a charity for each event we produce," said Calimano. "While it is a great honor to have been selected as Volunteer of the Year, we don't work with the charities to obtain special recognition, we partner with them to help them with their efforts to increase awareness and raise funds. It is a team effort here at Starfish Junction, we all share in this great honor," added Calimano.
