Toys of Hope taking donations to help families during winter months

2008-11-20 / Events & Bulletin

Toys of Hope, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping homeless and needy children, families and their pets by providing items necessary to help live a happy and fulfilling life, is currently asking community members to donate supplies to help families get through the bleak winter months. The organization is already receiving desperate phone calls from families in need of winter clothing.

"As the cold weather approaches, now is a more crucial time than ever for the community to get involved," says Toys of Hope President and Founder Melissa Doktofsky. "We rely solely on donations and any contribution, no matter how small, is helpful."

All donations must be brand new. Possible suggestions include: winter coats, hats, earmuffs, gloves, scarves, sweaters, sweatshirts, long sleeve shirts, long pants, thermal underwear, snow pants, warms socks, boots and blankets/comforters. Toys of Hope operates all year round and always accepts toys, books, clothing, activities and other items.

To make a donation, please call Toys of Hope at 631-421-6866, or visit Guest Services, located on the upper level, at the Mall at the Source in Westbury where drop boxes will be located. Contributions are tax deductible and a pick up service is available for large donations. To learn more about Toys for Hope and how to get involved visit: www.toysofhope.org .
