The national team of the Bay Shore Model UN Club, representing the Ivory Coast, won Third Place Award of Merit as a delegation at a recent conference. With over 180 schools competing nation-wide, Bay Shore was the only school from New York State to garner such recognition. Members of this winning team are Nayab Ashfaq (Class of '08), Arun Bodapati, Elizabeth Brunton, Samantha Caiola, Jennifer Chalifoux, Sean Coomey (Class of '08), Brianne Corcoran (Class of '08), Megan Corcoran, Katherine Katzer, Kristie Koos (Class of '08), Kevin LaRose, Michael LaRose, Kevin Mehler, James Rainis, David Rodriguez, Matthew McCarthy, Sunny Velez and advisors Suzanne Litrel and Heather Niedzwiecki.

Islip Town Supervisor Phil Nolan and Council Members presented certificates to students and advisors of the awardwinning Bay Shore High School Model UN team.
