Suffolk County Police arrested a Dix Hills man on Monday for robbing three pharmacies on the same day last month, including one in Lindenhurst. Police gave this account.

Bernard Johnson entered the Walgreens at 5001 Route 25 in Commack, and demanded money from the cashier on Sept. 14 at 8:25 a.m. Johnson, 34, of 987 Baldwin Path, Dix Hills, stated that he had a handgun in his pocket and threatened to shoot the cashier if he wasn't given the money. The cashier was unable to open the drawer. Johnson then attempted to open it himself and when he was unsuccessful, Johnson fled without any money.

Five minutes later, Johnson entered a CVS, located at 2000 Route 25 in East Northport and approached the cashier, demanded money, stated that he had a handgun and threatened to shoot the cashier if he wasn't given the money. The cahier opened the register and Johnson took the cash and left the store.

Johnson went to another CVS, located at 701 North Wellwood Ave. in Lindenhurst at 10 a.m. He again demanded money and told the cashier that he had a handgun and threatened to shoot the cashier if he wasn't given the money. The cashier opened the register and Johnson took the cash himself and left the store.

Second Squad detectives conducted an investigation and received tips from the Crime Stoppers line that led to Johnson's identification. Johnson was arrested at the intersection of New Highway and Conklin Street in East Farmingdale.

Second Squad detectives charged Johnson with one count of attempted robbery 1st degree and two counts of robbery 1st degree. He will be held overnight at the Second Precinct and arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Oct. 31.
