Shown in the photo, first-grade students from Marjie Hauck's class at Babylon Elementary School in the Babylon School District were all smiles after the school's kickoff assembly program on character education. During an assembly program comprised of original songs and stories, Babylon Elementary School kindergarten through second-grade students had the chance to decide what kinds of choices they would make if faced with a number of different situations. The program, which was performed by singer songwriter Lou Del Bianco, was titled Make a Good Choice.

Students enjoyed clapping and singing along as Lou took them on an exciting journey back through his childhood. Through his innovative and catchy songs the students learned not only about Del Bianco's past, but also about the choices they would make if they found themselves in Del Bianco's shoes.

In addition to speaking about the pillars of character education, the program was tailored to touch upon the three components of the school's pledge - respect, responsibility, and safety.
