Lighten your load and help those in need simply by cleaning out your closets and bringing your gently-used or new coats, sweaters, sweatshirts and blankets to the office of S.C. Leg. Lou D'Amaro (D-Huntington) as part of the donation drive for Every Child's Dream,a not-for-profit organization that helps those less fortunate in the local community.

"Seasons come and go and children grow quickly, and we all have items in our closets that are still in wonderful condition yet no longer fit," D'Amaro said. "Rather than throw those items out, we can donate them. Just think about how last year's favorite coat can keep someone warm all winter long this year."

Children of all ages are in need and all sizes will be appreciated. Donations can be dropped off at Leg. D'Amaro's district office, 130 West Jericho Tpke, Huntington Station, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday between now and December 1. Drop off bins are also located in the lobby of the Suffolk County Legislature Building on Veteran's Memorial Highway in Hauppauge. For those who prefer, checks made out to Every Child's Dream will also be accepted. For more information, call 631- 854- 4433.

"The cold weather is fast approaching and the need is great, so I hope that everyone will take the time to look inside their closets to find items they can donate," D'Amaro said. "It is a simple way to warm your heart and warm others at the same time."
