2008-10-16 / Schools/Sports
Assemblyman Andrew Raia (R,I,C-East Northport) hosted his second There Ought to be a Law poster contest. Elementary and middle school studentsthroughout the assemblyman's district were asked to design a poster that proposed an idea they would like to see become law. The winning students were chosen by a panel of teachers and administrators. Students were presented with a certificate while they were cheered on by parents, teachers and principals. The assemblyman plans on taking the children's suggestions to Albany to see if they could be made into laws. The contest was started as tool to help children foster an interest in government and civics.
