Corinne Dein Corinne Dein Lifelong Babylon Village and West Islip resident Corinne Abbott Dein died on August 3, 2008. The logo she designed for the Fire Island Lighthouse logo is still in use today. She was 88 years old.

Born and raised in Babylon Village, she gradu-

ated its High School in 1938 and spent her life as a professional artist. She specialized in wildlife, using pen and ink and watercolor, which she showcased in many shows around Long Island, winning numerous awards. For ten years she worked for Airborne Instruments Laboratory of the U.S. Government in

Mineola as an illustrator in the art department.

In 1943 she moved to West Islip with her husband and lived on Parkwood Road for 65 years.

"She just loved art," said her son, Jeffrey. "She was always painting and because she loved to paint wildlife, she was an avid bird watcher." Mrs. Dein also enjoyed spending time with her family.

Mrs. Dein leaves behind her children, April Carabia of Mastic and Jeffrey A. and his wife Candace of West Islip. Her sisters, Peggy Dunlop of Virginia and Lois Ell of North Carolina also survive her as do her grandchildren, Jennifer Scheriff and her husband Daniel, Julia White, Michael and Jeffrey M., and her six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, George H. Dein Jr.

A memorial service and wake was held August 16, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church in Babylon. A private cremation followed.
