Dog rescued from ledge in Babylon Village
2008-09-11 / Front Page
In late June, a storm and power outage on Deer Park Avenue and Main Street in Babylon Village frightened a dog that was left in a second floor apartment. The animal got out of a window and climbed onto a ledge, spurring a major rescue operation by Village employees, local shopkeepers and Suffolk County Police.
"The dog was scared by the storm and pushed out an air conditioner vent to get out on to the ledge," said Robin Roberts, of Babylon Jewelers who witnessed the event.
Roberts said that police went to the second floor apartments and with the assistance of a resident there, were able to coax the dog into a harness and back into the apartment safely.
The events were caught on camera by an employee of First National Bank.
