WBHS varsity football team honored by USMC

Coach Albert Ritacco, stands alongside players from the West Babylon High School Varsity Football Team that were recently recognized by the United States Marine Corps for athletic excellence. Sgt. Richard Vergara, (kneeling), Guard Force and martial arts instructor trainer, District recruiting support officer, conducted a Marine Corps-style physical fitness challenge. The football players competed against each other to see who could do the most pull-ups and crunches. The top performers were recognized with certificates. Rooney and Vergara regularly travel around Suffolk and Nassau Counties visiting highschools and community recreation centers conducting these competitions to show the Marine Corps' support of high school athletics.
