State must take action on escalating property taxes
      The New York State proposal, supported by Gov. David Paterson and passed by the Senate, to enact a tax cap on school spending may not be the total answer to escalating real estate property costs, particularly here on Long Island, but it is a beginning.

W.B. taxpayers support Governor's proposal to implement a school tax cap
      Dear Editor: Working Families Party and the Alliance for Quality Education [AQE] launched a major TV ad campaign against Gov. David Paterson's "tax cap" plan. The ad says, the so-called "tax cap" is the wrong answer to the serious problem of property taxes. They state similar caps have devastated public education in states like California, Massachusetts and Illinois.
