The students are shown with advisor, second from left, standing, Joan Johanson and Allstate Insurance Company agent, second from right, standing, John Auer, who presented the group with a $1,000 grant to fund the completion of the project. in a car, Babylon Junior-Senior High School's Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) club applied for a $1,000 grant from Allstate Insurance Company. After being notified of their application's acceptance into the grant program, which was offered this spring to all high schools across Long Island, the students employed their artistic talents and created an original mural on one of the walls in the senior cafeteria.
"Before we created the mural we blanketed the school with posters showing the number 16...we really wanted to drum up our peers curiosity about the topic before completing the painting," stated SADD club president Jamie Mott. "We chose the senior cafeteria because we thought it was a very visible location in the school that almost all students see at one point in the day. We hope it serves as a constant reminder to be safe while driving"
