West Babylon students plot math skills
2008-08-21 / Schools/Sports
Students attending West Babylon Junior High School in the West Babylon School District recently created their own survey graphs. The sixth graders in Mrs. Powers' math class incorporate their knowledge of frequency charts, bar, line, picture and circle graphs, fraction, decimal and percent conversions, stem and leaf plots, and line plot graphs to create their own survey graphs. Working in pairs, the children surveyed at least 100 of their peers on topics ranging from favorite movie to favorite color. The raw data that they converted into several types of graphs were then presented to their fellow classmates.
Shown are sixth graders from West Babylon Junior High School.
