West Babylon South Bay Elementary band wins New York State Award
      Members of the band at South Bay Elementary School in the West Babylon School District recently learned that they had earned a Silver Award at this year's NYSSMA band competition. Under the direction of Danielle Kahler, the fifth graders have worked very hard all year to gain proficiency on their instruments.

JQA Elementary school in Deer Park shoveling with honor
      Deer Park John Quincy Adams (JQA) Elementary School second grade class of 2008 came together one last time for the planting of a tree to honor its graduates, both from this year's class and the past. In the front of the building, students and teachers gathered to plant a Japanese Red Maple and honor those who have walked the halls of JQA.

      Deer Park Robert Frost eighth grade students donned the traditional Falcon gowns of maroon and white, celebrating their time at Robert Frost as they looked toward their future at Deer Park High School. The graduates touched on many memories and accomplishments during this year's Moving Up ceremony.

      Students at West Babylon Junior High School in the West Babylon School District are enjoying some extra computer time at the afterschool Computer Club meetings. Under the advisement of Mrs. Powers, the Computer Club meets on alternating weeks, and is open to sixth, seventh and eighth graders. Students may work on class projects, do research, or play approved games.

LMS students donate handmade bracelet money to Multiple Sclerosis
      Eight h grade students have been busy making beaded bracelets to benefit Multiple Sclerosis. They raised over $700 selling handmade bead bracelets during lunch periods. Eighth grade teacher Patricia Wigand stumbled upon green and white beads at the Materials Resource Center in Holbrook. She bought some elastic and starting making green and white Lindy Pride bracelets.
