Charles Joiner, at 68 Charles Henry Joiner, a West Babylon High School graduate and handyman who was described by his family as a man who was always smiling, died July 3, 2008 at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip. He was 68. He was born February 23, 1940 in Georgia to James D. and Ella Mae (Timmons) Joiner and played football on West Babylon High School's team. After living in West Babylon, he moved to Wyandanch. For many years he drove trucks for the August Building Supply Company in Lakeview and became a wellknown handyman after retirement. He was a longtime parishioner at Zion Tabernacle in Jamaica, Queens. Mr. Joiner leaves behind his wife Teddy of Wyandanch; his children: Charles and his wife Carolyn of Amityville and Diane J. Simmons of Queens. His grandchildren, Njoki Williams, Kyaisa and Shirris Joiner and his siblings, James and his wife Sue of Wyandanch, Helen Adams and her husband Ezekiel of Georgia, Ann Smith, Venice C also survive him as do a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A Funeral Service was conducted at the Powell Funeral Home, Amityville, followed by interment in the Long Island National Cemetery in Pinelawn. |
