Lifelong Amityville area resident and Town of Bab­ylon clerk Elaine Robbins died July 15, 2008 at her Copiague home. She was 75.

She was born on December 22, 1932 in Amityville to Arthur and Olympia (Strazza) DeMeroto. In addition to caring for her family, for many years she worked as a clerk for the Town in Lindenhurst. Mrs. Robbins leaves behind her children: Robert, Gene and Michele; her sister: Gerry Doherty; her nieces: Colleen Kretz, Kathleen Thorn, Gerry Compitello and Tanya Korneev; her great neph­ew: Gavin Kretz; and her great nieces; Katie and Maggie Thorn and Faith Compitello. A memorial visitation was held at the Powell Fu­neral Home, Amityville, on July 19, 2008. Private cremation followed.
