Members of the band at South Bay Elementary School in the West Babylon School District recently learned that they had earned a Silver Award at this year's NYSSMA band competition. Under the direction of Danielle Kahler, the fifth graders have worked very hard all year to gain proficiency on their instruments.

The students recently performed with the West Babylon gold band at the district-wide instrumental concert, held at the high school performing arts center, and some of the children offered an ensemble performance at the recent South Bay art show. Most of these youngsters intend to continue their instrumental

study next year at the junior high school.
