Our Congressional leaders abandoned us in our time of need

2008-08-07 / Opinion

Dear Editor: In case you missed it, Congressman Peter King tried to keep working over the next few weeks so that we would not have to pay too much for heating oil this coming winter.

Unfortunately, all Democratic Congressional Representatives from the Greater New York area decided to obey San Francisco's Nancy Pelosi and adjourn until September 8. Their perspective seems to be that the worse the economy becomes, the better the chances are for Democrats in the November election.

The polls claim that 75 percent of Americans want more oil supply. Sadly, even our Long Island Democratic representatives do not want to hear us. It seems to me that San Francisco does not use as much oil for heating as Long Islanders. That's why Nancy Pelosi does not care. But what is the excuse for Cong. Steve Israel, Carolyn McCarthy and Tim Bishop to mention a few?

You should remember them this November especially when you will be paying over $900 for your next oil delivery.
