Woman's arm severed in motor vehicle accident
Suffolk County Police First Squad Detectives are investigating a single-vehicle crash in West Babylon, that left a Lindenhurst woman in serious condition with a severed left arm. Police gave this account:
On Monday, August 11, 2008, at about 10:20 PM, Laurie Zanderzuk, 44, of 436 North Erie Avenue, Lindenhurst, was driving her 2003 Chevy Trail Blazer westbound on Route 27 in West Babylon. Near Route 109, she lost control of the vehicle and struck a guardrail, causing the vehicle to overturn.
During the crash, Ms. Zunderzuk’s left arm was severed. She was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital by West Babylon FD Ambulance, and then transferred to the Stony Brook University Medical Center for further treatment.
The Chevy Trail Blazer was impounded for a safety inspection. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident and has not yet been interviewed to call the First Squad at (631) 854-8152. All calls will be kept confidential.
