I'VE KNOWN MARGE FARRINGTON BOYLAN BURNS all of my life, and am so saddened by her death on July 26 at the hospital in North Carolina after a short illness. Our husbands have been best friends growing up in Amityville and our children played and swam together, and our mothers played bridge together. Marge was a Babylonian from the time of her birth until her death. Again the community mourns another one of its outstanding citizens. God Bless Marge Burns. I will always treasure her in my memories.

MORE HONORS FOR FRAN PASCH who had been honored at the first concert of the summer season at the Argyle Park Band Shell, was again recognized at the All-Village Cocktail Party held at Lily Flanagan's. Among the numerous prizes was a flat screen TV donated by Doris and Bert Pederson, who are always so generous. Almost everyone took home a beautiful gift, and the event was big success. The Nathaniel Conklin House was the beneficiary. Repairs and restoration are desperately needed, and that's why we asked you to attend this event. We want to keep the old house in good repair so that generations can enjoy the beauty of the place for years to come.

WHAT A THRILL it was last Friday to drive up to the Sunrise Highway at Town Hall and see Supervisor Steve Bellone, Deputy Supervisor Ellen McVeety and Councilwoman Jackie Gordon (an Iraq veteran) as they held the kick-off ceremonies starting at 9 a.m. American flags lines the highway and all of us were reminded of the bravery and heroism of our servicemen and women. They drove the Jones Beach Bike Path in Wantagh to Cedar Beach - it was a strong reminder of all that they have done for us over the past five years, and to let them know how much we appreciate it.

BABYLON IS THE KINDEST VILLAGE. Residents and merchants showed their care and affection last Wednesday when a little female dog was frightend by the storm and got trapped on the ledge atop two buildings. Lots of people crowded around the sidewalk and they were thrilled when the animal was saved. And even more - one of the shopkeepers put out a bowl of water for the dog. The dog lived in the apartment, but the owner was out. Someone stayed with the dog until the owner returned home. What devotion!

A GROUP OF NORTH VIETNAMESE DOCTORS have been visiting here in Lindenhurst under the auspices of the Lindenhurst Rotary Club. They have been visiting local hospitals and other places of interest to learn about American culture and advances

in medicine. Dermott McGrath of the Lindenhurst Rotary has been planning their tour of our country. The trip has been of great benefit to the North Vietnamese, as well as to our country.

BABYLONIANS LOVE TRIP - Forty one lucky people enjoyed a perfect day last Friday when they drove to Montauk Point to Block Island. The weather

was perfect and everyone enjoyed the sightseeing, and everyone is still talking about the delicious luncheon they enjoyed at the National Hotel. Betty Siegel heads up the Livingston Center and was in charge of the outing. What a capable, efficient lady she is. There was one slight mishap when two of the gentlemen guests managed to get lost for a very short time before being found by those in charge. Betty is some gift to the Village which showed its appreciation several years ago by presenting her with the Nathaniel Conklin Award, along with Isabel Gallagher.
