2008-07-17 / Schools/Sports

Deer Park John Quincy Adams Elementary School invited local celebrity and pop star Lucas Prata into their classroom for an afternoon of musical education. Prata's chart topping song And She Said has become a daily ritual to jumpstart students of Laurie Blank, Debbie Bradbury and Odie Mercorella. Every morning, students in these classes use the warm-up song to exercise "whole brain movements" which incorporate physical and mental tasks including sight, sound coordination and group cooperation into their daily lesson. Prior to. Prata's arrival, students used their curriculum knowledge of sentence formation and practiced their proof reading skills by preparing a welcome speech and individualized questions for. Prata. During his visit students practiced their interviewing talents by asking Prata questions about his childhood in Deer Park, travels around the world and life as a pop star. After students performed a song and dance for Prata, he showed his hometown fans appreciation giving autographed posters and pictures to all the students.
