Allison Matus, Valedictorian

 WEST BABYLON SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCES VALEDICTORIAN AND SALUTATORIAN

The principal and faculty at West Babylon Senior High School in the West Babylon School District are proud to announce the Valedictorian and Salutatorian for the Class of 2008, Allison Matus and Nicole Krieg.   Allison Matus, Valedictorian for the Class of 2008 Allison Matus, Valedictorian for the Class of 2008, is an AP Scholar with Distinction and received the National Merit Scholarship Competition Letter of Commendation.  She won first place in the New York State Math League Competition in

 2008 and competed in the Long Island Science and Engineering Fair.   Ms. Matus has a weighted GPA of 108.9 and has taken a total of 12 AP classes and 14 AP tests throughout her high school career.  She is president of the Math Club; a member of the Science Olympiad and the Russian Olympiada; and has been inducted in to both the National Honor Society and the Foreign Language Honor Society.  Allison’s love for math and science also extends to literacy – she’s contributed to the school newspaper and is treasurer for the school’s literary magazine.       Allison Matus will attend Wellesley College this fall where she plans to major in physics.    

Nicole Krieg, Salutatorian

Nicole Krieg, Salutatorian for the Class of 2008 Nicole Krieg, Salutatorian for the Class of 2008, was a National AP Scholar as a junior and is a member of the National Honor Society.     Ms. Krieg’s weighted GPA is 107.9 and has completed 13 AP courses in her four years at West Babylon.  She is president of the Science Olympiads and vice president of the Math Club.  She is a member of the Vincent C. Foley Honor Society and served as president of the Quiz Bowl.  Nicole volunteers for the Food and Book Drives, United Cerebral Palsy Fundraisers, and People to People Student Ambassadors to Europe.   Nicole Krieg will be studying at Tufts University in September.  She will pursue a double major in international studies and pre-law and minor in journalism.
