Public commentary
I agree 100 percent with Kevin O'Neil, whose public commentary was published on April 17, (U.S. Policy in Iraq bolsters terrorists' claim against Americans). This newspaper The Beacon published a letter I wrote prior to President Bush attacking and occupying Iraq. At that time I said that there were no WMD in Iraq. If President Bush knew where they were, he should have told the UN Inspectors, who were in Iraq looking for them.
I also indicated that Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with the WTC attack. We know the facts now, after spending millions of dollars to investigate.
President Bush and his administration should have been impeached the day the report come out about the non-existing WMD in Iraq and Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with the WTC attack. We have a do-nothing Congress and Senate whose only job is to work for the special interest groups that donate money to their political campaigns. I should also indicate that there were no terrorists in Iraq, prior to the war. The citizens of Iraq want the US out of their country. Terrorists are not going to attack our country; let's bring our troops home
We lost the life of 4,036 of our troops as of April 18; more than 29, 780 lost legs, arms and suffered injury to other parts of their bodies. More than 60,000 returning troops are mentally ill.
President Bush is responsible for the dead of over 700,000 innocent citizens of Iraq. The destruction of Iraq is all because President Bush did not like Saddam Hussein. President Bush lied to us saying that he was liberating the people of Iraq. Then he said he was establishing a democracy in Iraq. We do not even have a democracy in our country. All are controlled by the two political parties.
The war in Iraq has cost us more than $ 513 billion dollars so far. It costs more than $ 9 billion a month. Our country is in debt over $ 9 trillion dollars. The only ones who are benefiting from this war are the oil companies, VP Cheney's Company Halliburton, and those who make the killing weapons.
Cheney did not even release the minutes of the conference he had with the oil companies prior to the war with Iraq. It appears this war is to protect the interest of the oil companies.
Send a letter or call your Senators and Congressmen to end the war and bring our troops home as soon as possible. Our country is not going to win this war in Iraq. So let's bring our troops home now. Cesar A. Malaga West Babylon
