Former longtime Babylon Village resident and loving homemaker Lucille J. Spielmann died peacefully March 15, 2008 in Edgewater, Florida. She was 82.

Born in Brooklyn to Anna and Frank Schumacher on November 11, 1926, she grew up helping run the family's ice cream parlor. After moving to Babylon Village she raised her own family and spent many wonderful days boating on the Great South Bay.

A longtime member of St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Babylon, she enjoyed rock gardening and gathering with friends and family on the docks of Cedar and Gilgo Beach.

Mrs. Spielmann leaves behind her husband of 61 years, Arthur; her children: Michael and his wife Suzanne of Stafford Springs, Connecticut and Carol of Pembroke, Georgia; her grandchildren: Stephanie Smith of Statesboro, Georgia, Brian Ridulfo of Statesboro, Georgia, Steven Ridulfo of Statesboro, Georgia and Scott of Stafford Springs, Georgia; her cousin: Donald of Pembroke, Georgia and seven great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life was conducted at Coronado Community Methodist Church in New Smyrna Beach, Florida on March 19, 2008 with the Rev. Robert Brown officiating.
