Opening Day for North Babylon Youth League
The North Babylon Youth League (NBYL) kicked off it's 51st season with a grand parade and celebration on Sat., April 5. Almost 750 youngsters are participating in this year's Baseball, Softball and Challenger Division leagues, according to NBYL President John Carrick, making this the largest youth sports program in the Town of Babylon. The baseball teams play unstudents der the international Little League charter, and, now in its second season, the Challenger division is dedicated to children with special needs. "It's such a thrill to see the excitement on the young players' faces, whether they are picking up a bat for the first time or the fiftieth," said Legislator D'Amaro whose son Louis, age six, is playing in his rookie season for North Babylon. "The entire community offers a wealth of gratitude and thanks to the volunteer NBYL board members who dedicate themselves year round to making this all happen."
