Babylon High School seniors had an opportunity to participate in a mock financial day. This program was offered by The Right Start Foundation, a not-for-profit that educates high school and college students on Long Island on financial literacy and the dangers of credit card debt. Students were given a mock pay check with marital status, occupation and number of dependents. The participants from local businesses were Prudential Douglas Elliman, Stop & Shop, Chase-Babylon, Northwestern Mutual and American Debt Resources. The students were asked to meet with the local businesses and spend their "income", also recording everything on their check register. Claire Reilly of Babylon High School together with Connie LoCascio and Gio Ramirez of The Right Start Foundation put the programs together. All participants left with a better understanding of the importance of budgeting and maintaining good credit.
