Ruth Hillery, resident of Babylon

Loving wife, mother and grandmother Ruth Hillery, who spent more than 30 years living on Burnage La., in Babylon, died Feb. 3, 2008 after a long-term illness. She was 86 years old.

Born in Brooklyn, she moved to Babylon with her husband Andrew to raise their family. She dedicated her life to caring for family and home.

"She was just wonderful, and I miss her," said Andrew, who added that in her younger years, she started an impromptu girls club called DEBS, that offered its members an occassional night out. She was also a longtime member of the Cross of Christ Lutheran Church of Babylon.

In addition to her husband of 61 year, Mrs. Hillery leaves behind her children: Drew and his wife Mary, Linda and her husband Jonathan and Corinne and her husband Mark; her grandchildren: Andrew III, Michael, Erin, Hillery and Lauren; and her great granddaughter, Clare.

She reposed at the Lang-Tobia-DiPalma Funeral Home in Babylon Village on Feb. 5, 2008. A Funeral Service was held at the Cross of Christ Lutheran Church. Interment followed at Babylon Rural Cemetery.
