Good Sam Foundation receives donation from West Islip Breast Cancer Coalition
      Members of the West Islip Breast Cancer Coalition (WIBCC) recently presented Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center with a $15,000 donation to The Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation.

West Islip High applauded for e-waste recycling
      Islip Town Supervisor Phil Nolan, left, stopped by West Islip High School to applaud the school district's efforts in e-waste recycling. The seniors, participating in Recycling Idle Technology, are enrolled in the Cisco Program - which prepares them for becoming network administrators at the high school with teacher Brian Bunonmo.

West Babylon students collaborate on book series
      Justin Hout and Reese Trovato of South Bay Elementary School hit it off in a big way when they met as fourth graders. But while many kids their age may like to watch the same TV shows and play the same videogames, these boys shared a love of writing and decided to collaborate on a book series together. The result is Super Ducky and Super Hawk series.

Holidays and cultures from around the world
      In Babylon, character education is a major component of the district's educational curriculum. In an effort to help the students at Babylon Elementary School better understand and have an appreciation for the different cultures that make up the world, the school hosted an in-school assembly program with Janice Buckner, a singer, performer, and puppeteer.

Stitching with love
      The first quarter Home and Career sixth-grade students in Mrs. Theiss' and Mrs. Tobin's class in the Babylon School District enthusiastically made quilted pillows for the children in the Wyandanch Head Start Program. Vera Brown, director of the program, came to the Memorial Grade School to meet the students and accept their donation.
