West Babylon students help raise awareness for sick and hungry populations of the world
The West Babylon High School put on a special event for World Aids Day, performing skits that focused on tolerance, diversity and acceptance. The presentation was produced and performed by the students of the Leaders Club with the assistance of Peg Ehrensperger, director and health teacher at the high school.
The event was held in the high school's new theater and opened with the Billy Joel video of River of Dreams. That set the tone for the lively performance that was both entertaining and interesting.
The performance was also designed to help raise awareness of the Aids epidemic and highlighted some of the things the students at the high school do every year in an effort to reach out to those less fortunate. This year those efforts included raising money for AIDS research, and Project Milk, which sends mother's breast milk to Africa to help save the lives of babies there who face starvation.
