Suffolk passes fertilizer reduction plan
New law restricts applications; calls for consumer education programs and more; County land included in legislation
Suffolk County has adopted a multi-pronged approach to reduce nitrogen pollution from fertilizer leaching, including the prohibition of fertilizer application during cold weather and a requirement that licensed landscapers be trained in its proper use and application. Babylon Town Supervisor Steve Bellone and his wife Tracey are the proud parents of their first child, a daughter Katherine Ann Bellone.
