New law restricts applications; calls for consumer education programs and more; County land included in legislation
Suffolk County has adopted a multi-pronged approach to reduce nitrogen pollution from fertilizer leaching, including the prohibition of fertilizer application during cold weather and a requirement that licensed landscapers be trained in its proper use and application. Longtime West Islip resident Vivian A. Bradley, who was a loving foster mother to many children in Suffolk County, died after a long-term illness Dec. 31, 2007. She was 81.
