There were congratulations all around as the West Islip Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team members received their State Championship Rings on January 3. As parents and friends watched, 41 of the 44 players participated in the ceremony, including those currently attending college.

This is an especially good night," said Coach Scott Craig, "because is the first team to win back-toback state championships in the 50- year history of West Islip High school lacrosse athletics."

The team was also voted number one in the nation.

"It was truly a cooperative effort," the coach continued to say as he also congratulated Assistant Coaches Bill Turri, Peter Murray and Patrick Rall.

Over the last four years, the team amassed an 84-4 record with four Suffolk County and Long Island championships and three appearances in state championship games.
