Two N. Babylon teachers honored for their hard work

Last month, two North Babylon teachers were honored by the Suffolk County Police Athletic League for their hard work and dedication as volunteers this past summer. North Babylon High School teachers, Stephen Corrado and Victor Manzella, coached PAL Blue Knights, a 16-and-under national travel baseball team.

Corrado is a ninth year high school social studies teacher and an assistant coach on both the girls¿ varsity soccer team and boys¿ varsity baseball team.

Manzella is a first year a special education teacher and the boys¿ JV baseball coach at Babylon High School.

The team began playing Memorial Day weekend and concluded their summer season on Labor Day with 20 wins against 10 losses. Corrado and Manzella led the team to two tournament finalists, and two tournament championships. The Blue Knights traveled to Orange County, California in the first week of August. The team was the highest placing non-Californian team during the week-long tournament. There were four North Babylon students on the team: Jon Cotter, Louis Galiolto, Danny Muller, and Kyle Olsen.
