Suffolk Police still investigating West Islip home invasion

Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are continuing to investigate a burglary that occurred at an occupied house in West Islip Tues., Dec. 11. In that incident, two armed men pistol-whipped a resident at 26 Mariner Circle, at approximately 1 a.m. Police said they believe the home was specifically targeted and that this was not a "random act."

The two men, armed with handguns, entered a front window of the home, made their way to an upstairs bedroom and demanded money from the resident who had been asleep in his bed. The men then struck the victim with a handgun and ran out of the house without any proceeds. The intruders then fled in a four door sedan. The victim was treated at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center for head lacerations.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800- 220-TIPS.
