Traveler's Club meeting

On Dec. 3 a meeting of the Travelers Club was held at the home of Betsy Davison. Kerry Riddle read a paper on education in China. Years ago education was highly revered and a privilege for only an elite few. For many centuries education was patterned after the teachings of Confuscius. Following the Opium Wars with Britain, education followed the western format, taught mostly by missionaries. Music and drama presented a program on the art of papercutting. Homes were hung with decorated paper cutouts at festival times.
